The main advantage of doing an academic year in Ireland is the proximity to Spain, which allows you to return during vacation periods without having to pay for the flight. Another great advantage is the easy and fast validation of the course in Spain. The only course that has some additional requirements is the equivalent of the 2nd Bachillerato since the student has to take the Leaving Certificate exam at the end of the course.

The schools in Ireland and Great Britain are very traditional and conservative (in Ireland they are mostly Catholic), a characteristic that makes them worthy of great prestige in the world. They also have magnificent facilities, gardens, parks and sports fields, and are always located in small towns and in quiet residential areas far from urban centers. They can be Male, Female or Mixed.
The school calendar is similar to the Spanish one, so students have the same vacations and during each term they have a week off to return to Spain.
The school year starts in September and ends in June.
The Secondary Education begins in the 1st Year Secondary (1º ESO) and is divided in First Cycle and Second Cycle, this last one finishes in 2º of Bachillerato with a State exam (Leaving Certificate) whose overcoming is indispensable requirement for the validation. We recommend the completion of the ESO and 1st Bachillerato courses.

There is a wide variety, many of them Catholic and run by religious orders, but fully funded by the government. There are girls’, boys’ and co-educational schools. Community schools are public, coeducational and secular schools and also have a good academic level.

In this program there is the possibility of choosing between accommodation with a family or in residence (Boarding School). In this type of schools the minimum duration is one school year.
